Drew is a recent graduate from Bates College with a degree in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Ecology. Her passion for environmental and experiential learning began during the fall of 2012 at Maine Coast Semester when she was introduced to the importance of place-based curriculum. Drew’s experience as an educator began during the summer of 2016 during her internship at Vaughan Woods and Historic Homestead and continued during the summer of 2017 at the Kennebec Land Trust. She led nature walks for local children and fostered a sense of pride for place in the hopes of promoting conservation of local natural resources. These experiences motivated Drew to volunteer in local elementary schools as a teaching assistant for the 2017-2018 school year.
Drew is incredibly excited to begin as a teaching assistant at the Elementary School at Chewonki and to bring her passion of the environment, education, and the Chewonki mission to the classroom. When she’s not at school, Drew enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time on the Chewonki farm.
