About

Jackson Cromwell

Jackson began teaching music at Chewonki in January of 2020. Jackson grew up on Westport Island and attended public schools. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maine School of Performing Arts in 2016. He has been playing music professionally since age 18, and teaching privately since 2017. Specialties are in drumset, percussion, keyboard instruments, and stringed instruments.

Jackson lives with his partner Elise, in a modern yurt in the Upper Sheepscot River valley of Whitefield, Maine. His hobbies include gardening, surfing, cycling, skiing, climate activism, and peacefully protesting injustice. His approach to music education has been shaped by excellent mentors, and his understanding of young minds and their learning processes is constantly widening. He is a collaborator and touring musician in the band GoldenOak, who are releasing an album in 2021 focused on the local impacts of the climate crisis.
